11 passengers traveling from Imo to Kano died in a fire along the Enugu/Port Harcourt expressway

On Sunday, October 30, eleven passengers traveling from Owerri, Imo state, to Kano state were burned to death after their Toyota Hiace bus was involved in an accident.

According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the Enugu state police command, the Hiace Bus with registration number KTG 41 XD, carrying twelve (12) passengers, rammed into a broken-down and stationary Howo Sino truck at Akegbe-Ugwu, along the Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway and burst into flames.

According to Ndukwe, the impact caused eleven (11) of the travelers to suffer severe burns before emergency help arrived. He claimed they were taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by on-duty doctors.

He added that further investigation has been initiated by the Motor Traffic Department (MTD) of the Command.
