CJN approves 300 judges to handle election cases
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will launch the legal fireworks for the 2023 election on Monday, November 7, with the inauguration of over 300 members of the election petition tribunal.
Dr. Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s spokesperson, stated this in an invitation sent to journalists in Abuja on Saturday.
The event has been scheduled for Andrews Obaseki Auditorium at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja, according to him.
He also explained to our correspondent why the inauguration would be coming so early.
Akande said, “If there’s delay in swearing them in, you will ask why the delay, but it’s done early now, you are asking questions again. What will one do to please the world? I believe you have not forgotten that they will undergo induction for sometime before they commence sitting.
“Elections are taking place in February 2023; we are in November already. Do you want them to be inaugurated in February next year, being the same month of election? We have always been swearing them in few months to elections and this one is not an exception.”
