Court of Appeal reserves judgment in Federal Government's stay-of-execution request in Nnamdi Kanu's case

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgment in the Federal Government’s application for a stay of execution of the court’s judgment ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

The federal government claimed in the application that Kanu posed a significant threat to national security and that he needed to be detained in order for the country to be at peace.

Kanu was also accused of being a flight risk who would flee the country if the judgment ordering his release did not stay.

Justice Haruna Tsanami who presided over the application on Monday October 24, said a date for delivery of judgment would be communicated to the parties when ready.
