Christopher Nkunku to withdraw from the World Cup for France after suffering an injury in training
Christopher Nkunku has been ruled out of the 2022 World Cup due to an injury sustained while training in France.
According to reports, the RB Leipzig forward collided with Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, causing an injury to his left leg.
He joins N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba as French players who have been ruled out of the tournament in Qatar.
“Injured in training, Christopher Nkunku must give up participating in the World Cup. The whole group shares Christopher’s sadness and wishes him a speedy recovery,” wrote the national team in a statement.
France have also confirmed that Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani has been called up to replace Nkunku, with the 23-year-old set to join up with the squad on Thursday.
